Blacklisted In America Violette Early 9781520844183 Books Reviews

Violette Early has crafted an honest, personal account of her late husband Jake. Particularly, how he became blacklisted in the entertainment industry. Jake was gifted, so much so that the likes of Harry Belafonte attended his performances. The story includes wonderful photographs of New York City, the trusty dog Rex, and more. Kudos to Violette for writing this book in memory of her husband.
At first, I assumed it was just another desperate blacklisted tale. Much to my surprise it is far from that, yes, it's an unfortunate story for Jake but to top it off his career was so bright and hopeful and then unexpectedly his life becomes obscure, vague, and unclear and he travels through his entire life never knowing why. His a career in the arts is suddenly rejected by the very same people that not just flattered Jake but aided him in every way that most artist will never experience. What happened and why? According to his wife Isabella, who better qualified to write this story; claims and in some instances confirms what took place. It's a must read!!
